Boost Your Core Strength With Emsella
Pelvic floor muscles play an important role in bladder control and other aspects of pelvic health. When these muscles become weaker, some people may experience urine leakage or other changes that affect their daily routines and confidence. Pregnancy, childbirth, aging, and other factors can contribute to pelvic floor weakness.
Emsella® offers a non-invasive way to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles without traditional exercises or surgery. At Dream Spa Medical in Foxborough, the treatment uses electromagnetic energy to produce repeated pelvic floor contractions while you remain comfortably seated.
How Does Emsella® Work?
Emsella uses electromagnetic stimulation to activate the pelvic floor muscles. During a session, the device generates repeated contractions that engage the muscles while you sit on the treatment chair.
A typical session takes about 30 minutes. The intensity of the stimulation can be adjusted based on your comfort level, and you remain fully clothed during the treatment. Because Emsella does not involve injections, incisions, or surgery, it can be a convenient option for people who want to support pelvic floor function without an invasive procedure.
Who May Consider Emsella®?
Emsella may be considered by adults experiencing pelvic floor weakness or urinary incontinence. Women may notice pelvic floor changes following pregnancy or childbirth, while age-related muscle changes and other factors can affect both women and men.
Urinary incontinence can have different causes, so electromagnetic pelvic floor stimulation may not be appropriate for every person. A consultation gives your provider an opportunity to review your symptoms, medical history, and goals and determine whether Emsella is suitable for you.

What is an Emsella® Treatment Like?
During treatment, you simply sit on the Emsella chair while the device delivers electromagnetic stimulation to the pelvic floor. You will feel the muscles contracting as the treatment progresses. Your provider can adjust the intensity to help keep the experience comfortable.
A series of treatments may be recommended rather than relying on a single session. Your provider can discuss the number and frequency of sessions that may make sense for your individual needs.
What Happens After Treatment?
Emsella does not typically require an extended recovery period, allowing you to return to your normal routine after a session. Because the treatment actively stimulates the pelvic floor muscles, some people may experience temporary muscle fatigue or mild soreness.
Individual responses can vary, and Emsella is not a guarantee of a particular outcome. Your provider can discuss realistic expectations and whether additional treatment may be appropriate based on your response.

Look Better & Feel Better Today
Let our team help you on your aesthetic journey!
When your pelvic floor weakens, your vaginal canal will lose the gripping ability that provides sensation during sex. Men aren’t unaffected either; erections are maintained by pelvic floor muscles.
Additionally, self-consciousness can affect sexual performance. You don’t want to be worried about a loose bladder while you’re being intimate with your partner.
But with Emsella, you don’t have to worry about any of that. You can see the strength in your pelvic floor increase thanks to this treatment’s muscle-contracting technology. Sex will become easier and more pleasurable for you and your partner.
It’s important to note that every patient is different, but lots of our patients have seen noticeable improvements after a single treatment. We do recommend that patients schedule 6 sessions, and at 30 minutes a piece, you won’t have to worry about them interfering with your busy schedule. You may notice some soreness following the treatment, but this is normal and nothing to be concerned about.
Emsella provides serious results. Patients may see their urinary incontinence decrease by 72% following completion of an Emsella treatment. But that’s not all. Studies support an increase in sexual well-being and satisfaction. Patients have reported an increase in satisfaction with orgasms and lubrication. The Emsella uses its muscle-contracting technology to strengthen the pelvic floor. This reduces episodes of unexpected urination and increases patient satisfaction levels.
You stand to feel much better after an Emsella treatment! Critical research by BTL supports this; an increase in quality of life was reported by 95% of patients!
Urinary incontinence may be caused by multiple different factors, including aging, pregnancy, or an inactive lifestyle. There are 3 types of urinary incontinence:
- Stress incontinence – This is when you urinate due to stress on the bladder. Stressors may include coughing, laughing, or sneezing. It’s a common form of incontinence.
- Urge incontinence – This is when you feel a sudden, uncontrollable urge to urinate with no warning.
- Mixed incontinence – This is a combination of stress and urge incontinence.
Emsella Pre- & Post-Care Instructions
- Wear comfortable clothing, because you’ll be sitting for 30 minutes.
- Make sure you’ve used the restroom before treatment. The number of Kegel-like contractions will be an intense workout.
- Remove any metal devices from your body, including piercings and metal items on your clothing.
- Remove your watch, your cell phone, and make sure you don’t have any electronics on you, as the electromagnetic energy emitted by the Emsella device can possibly damage them.
- If you have metal hardware internally (spinal brace, bone screws, hip replacement), you shouldn’t have Emsella.
- You can’t have Emsella if you use a pacemaker, pain pump, or penile implant.
- If you have a history of active seizures, you shouldn’t have Emsella.
- You must wait for 3 months or longer after having pelvic floor surgery before having Emsella therapy.
- There is no downtime after having Emsella. You’ll be free to go about your regular daily routine.
- Because your core muscles may be fatigued or slightly sore, depending on the intensity of your treatment, you may wish to refrain from heavy exercise directly after your treatment.
- Be sure to stay hydrated, so that your muscles have what they need to prevent a buildup of lactic acid.
