How Laser Vein Removal Works
Dream Spa Medical is committed to understanding and utilizing the best cosmetic technology, which is why we offer GentleMax® Pro and Candela® Nordlys, two cutting-edge laser treatments.
These laser treatments destroy veins and capillaries by causing the blood inside them to coagulate. The body automatically redirects the blood to different parts of the body, and your body absorbs the dead veins.
Look Better & Feel Better Today
Let our team help you on your aesthetic journey!
Not long at all! In general, the process only lasts around half an hour. And to make matters better, the treatment is very comfortable, though you may notice a slight tingle.
Until we meet with you, we can’t know exactly how many treatments you’ll need to clear your skin. It depends on several factors, including the appearance, size, shape, and color of the vein. When we sit down with you for your consultation, we’ll complete a physical exam to decide on the number of treatments you may need.
You may notice some minor side effects, such as:
- Slight redness
- Mild swelling
- Slight soreness
Luckily, these side effects should subside after about 7 days. And while there is no downtime associated with this treatment, you should keep your legs elevated, if possible.
Varicose and spider veins appear on the surface of the skin as we age. They usually aren’t anything to worry about; they’re a natural result of the human body’s life cycle. But just because varicose and spider veins aren’t dangerous, doesn’t mean they’re not irritating. For many patients, they’re visually unappealing, and they can cause pain and discomfort in others. We want you to feel confident in your skin.
Regardless of your age or skin tone, our GentleMax Pro and Candela laser systems can offer substantial skin-clearing results. These laser treatments are also effective against superficial deep leg veins and facial veins as well.
Pre- & Post-Care Instructions for Laser Vein Removal in Foxborough
- Women who are pregnant should not receive laser vein removal. If you are nursing and would like to pursue treatment we ask that you consult your PCP for clearance.
- Avoid direct sun exposure & tanning beds for 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Please avoid using self-tanners for 2 weeks prior to your appointment specifically in the area to be treated. If you have used self-tanner outside of the 2-week timeframe, we ask that you please exfoliate the area to ensure no remnants of the product are left in the area to be treated. The laser energy could burn the surface of the skin since the laser could target the “tanned area” instead of your vein.
- If you are currently taking oral antibiotics or steroids, you should discontinue the medication for 10 days prior to your appointment.
- It is best if you arrive to your appointment free of makeup, perfume, lotion, or other cosmetic products in the treatment area.
- If you have a known allergy or sensitivity to Cryogen Cooling Therapy, please inform our team when scheduling your appointment.
- We always suggest hydrating as much as possible prior to any treatment at Dream Spa Medical. It is a great way to help your body function at its best and help to accelerate your healing time as well as enhance results.
- Consider elevating your legs for the first 48 hours if they were treated. We also recommend wearing support hose for at least 72 hours after leg vein treatments.
- Treated veins frequently remain visible for 3 to 6 weeks before dissipating. This is due to residual clotted blood in the vessel and the time it takes for your body to naturally reabsorb the unwanted blood/tissue.
- A red scab may form under the skin. After a few weeks, your body will reabsorb it. Successful treatments usually exhibit this.
- It is possible to have pain from the treatment of larger veins for several days post-treatment. Tylenol and/or Arnica are recommended for any discomfort.
- It is advised to remain out of the sun for 1 week. It is recommended that you use a medical-grade sunblock for any sun exposure.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, sweating, and excessive temperatures for 72 hours.
- You may proceed with any injectable treatments and most cosmetic procedures immediately following your treatment.
