How LED Phototherapy Works
LED Phototherapy is an incredibly convenient process. The entire treatment only takes about half an hour. We choose different wavelengths of light to address different issues. For instance, red light treatments can induce collagen production deep beneath the skin’s surface, whereas blue light may work on the surface to kill bacteria responsible for the formation of acne.
Look Better & Feel Better Today
Let our team help you on your aesthetic journey!
One of the major benefits of LED Phototherapy is that it doesn’t require any surgery; it’s completely noninvasive. You don’t have to worry about any gels or creams staining your clothes. You can just relax in the treatment area as the LED light does its job. Your skin my feel a slight warming, but you shouldn’t feel any discomfort. It’s most comparable to sunbathing at the beach.
Another benefit of LED Phototherapy is that it doesn’t necessitate downtime. There isn’t any swelling or redness. You’ll be allowed to continue your day as usual.
Before we get started on your phototherapy, we need to have a consultation. There, we can decide what you expect to gain from treatment. If we decide you could benefit from red light, you might be suffering from:
- Fine lines and wrinkles.
- Sun damage/age spots.
- Damaged skin, muscle, and bone tissue
- Acne outbreaks and scarring.
- Rough skin texture.
- Stretch marks.
- Psoriasis and eczema.
- Skin redness and rosacea.
- Dementia.
But if we decide you could benefit from blue light, you might be suffering from:
- Acne-causing bacteria.
- Rough skin texture.
- Uneven skin tone.
- Sun damage.
Blue light phototherapy can also be a supplemental treatment. If you’re using specific medications to combat certain types of cancer and pre-treat actinic keratoses (precancerous spots), then blue light therapy might help.
Not everyone will notice side effects following an LED phototherapy treatment, but some patients are particularly sensitive to blue light phototherapy. In that case, they may notice:
- Mild skin irritation.
- Flaking/crusting/peeling.
- Sun sensitivity.
Because every patient is different, a member of the Dream Spa Medical team will ask you about your medical history. They’ll educate you about the side effects commonly associated with LED Phototherapy, and they’ll explain what you can expect from the results. They’ll also discuss the possibility of scheduling a follow-up treatment.
